The Curriculum at Secondary
Level |
|||
| All key stage 3 students have to learn all the National
Curriculum subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Design and Technology, Information and Communication Technology, History, Geography, Modern Foreign Languages, Art and Design, Music and Physical Education. You also have to learn Religious Education and Citizenship. Personal, Social and Health Education, does not have to be taught - but many schools choose to do so. From age 14, you can specialise more in areas that you have a particular interest in and can follow a more vocational area. You do not need to take all the National Curriculum subjects although the core subjects remain compulsory. Schools must give particular attention to the key skills of literacy, numeracy and information technology. In addition, all schools must provide religious education and address specific cross-curricular themes. Secondary schools must also provide careers education and sex education. |
